McLaren GT

With sleek lines, a low-slung body posture, flip-up butterfly doors and styling synonymous with the British automotive marque, the McLaren GT epitomises a high-performance, two-door sports coupé.

A soft-grain Nappa leather or cashmere interior, comfort seats with plush padding and a driver display that adapts to one of three modes are just a few of the advanced features integrated into the all-new McLaren driving experience.

The GT is powered by a twin turbocharged V8 engine paired with a seven-speed transmission that is capable of reaching top speeds of around 320 kmph. Apart from gorgeous good looks and great handling, the sports grand tourer is all about maximised performance.

Porsche Taycan

In the stylish-looking Taycan, Porsche has delivered what many people thought was impossible – a super-quick, carbon-neutral sports car powered entirely by electricity.

Despite the eco-friendly, battery-powered motors, the chart-topping Turbo S has a top speed of 260 kmph and can reach 100 kmph from a standing position in just 2.8 seconds.

Throw in fast recharge capabilities – and a battery range of more than 410 km for both the Turbo and Turbo S models – and the Porsche Taycan is a practical prospect for super-wealthy eco-friendly South Africans.

The futuristic all-electric vehicle features retractable door handles, four floating digital displays and a fully customisable infotainment system. It has the look, feel, heft and quality of a traditional Porsche sports car.

Aston Martin DBX

Dubbed a “super-SUV” due to its length, the Aston Martin DBX is another much-awaited luxury car for 2020. It has retained the quintessential styling of the British automotive brand.

A powerful V8 engine, mated with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, delivers a smooth, agile and super-responsive ride.

Along with its 3-ton towing capacity – and ability to wade through water up to a maximum depth of 500 mm – the DBX has more than enough traction for steep climbs and descents.

Despite the vehicle’s workmanlike, all-terrain performance, there has been no compromise when it comes to luxury and comfort. A wraparound interior, finished in only the best quality materials, features a full-length panoramic roof and frameless windows to create a light, airy ambience.

BMW M8 Gran Coupé

Sporty, sophisticated and with a full range of high-tech features, the BMW M8 Gran Coupé is a high-performance, all-wheel-drive sports car.

It’s powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. It offers a choice of three driver modes – traditional, four-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive sport.

A plush, richly appointed interior features a 31 cm digital display, 16-point, power-activated front seats with memory settings, four-zone climate control, plus a touchscreen infotainment system, Wi-Fi hotspot and 16-speaker sound system.

The four-door Gran Coupé is a quick, powerful and agile luxury vehicle that’s as effective in the city and on the open road as it is in rough, off-road conditions.

Audi e-tron

The Audi e-tron is a versatile carbon-neutral, five-seater SUV. It’s powered by two electric motors and can hit 0 to 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds and reach speeds of up to 200 kmph.

Along with its sporty styling and spacious interior, the e-tron features optional virtual extension mirrors to reduce drag.

MMI navigation, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and intersection assist, along with a host of other safety and driver assist features, are standard.

With a 400 km range and 30- to 40-minute battery recharge time, the Audi e-tron is a viable alternative to the Jaguar I-Pace. This is definitely one of most anticipated luxury cars for 2020.
