Hottest Luxury Cars for 2018
From new models to old favourites, we take a look at the hottest luxury cars available in South Africa in 2018.
Aston Rapide S
Aston Martin’s cars have always been about sophisticated style. The Rapide S is no exception. Although it is still marketed as a sports car, the Rapide is the only five-door Aston Martin currently available.
The all-new AM29 V12 engine gives you 411 kW of power. This makes it the most technologically advanced and most powerful Rapide engine in Aston Martin’s history.
The Rapide S retails from R4,200,000 and is available through Daytona South Africa.
Audi A7 Sportback
With its coupe-like silhouette, the A7 Sportback is reminiscent of a sports car but has the space and comfort of a luxury saloon.
The 8-cylinder engine delivers 331 kW of power, allowing for sportiness without sacrificing efficiency.
The Audi A7 Sportback starts from R1,080,000 and is available from Audi SA.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Sedan
Mercedes-Benz’s luxury line focuses on a balance between visual style and practical functionality. Technology like the Night View Assist Plus, which highlights people or animals on the road after dark, also makes the S-Class much safer.
With the S-Class sedan, you can choose between a 269 kW twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine and a 345 kW twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine.
The S-Class Sedan retails from R2,057,894 at most Mercedes-Benz dealers in South Africa.
Rolls Royce Phantom
The first name in luxury vehicles, Rolls Royce never disappoints with the classic Phantom. The fully bespoke luxury limousine boats an interior of luxury cowhide and high gloss wood veneer with your feet resting on plush sheepskin floor mats.
The Phantom has an impressive 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 under the bonnet, generating 420 kW of power. Despite this, the latest Phantom has been designed to be the most silent car in the world, allowing its passengers to travel in ultimate comfort.
Because the Phantom is a bespoke vehicle, there is no base price. To build your Rolls Royce and get an accurate quote, get in touch with the dealer in Sandton.
BMW 7 Series
The 7 Series is undoubtedly a luxury car but the signature BMW innovation is still very present. The new model features BMW Gesture Control, BMW Laserlight and Remote Control Parking.
For the eco-conscious driver, the 7 Series has the option of a TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder diesel engine from the new generation of BMW EfficientDynamics engines. It delivers a maximum output of 195 kW and CO2 emissions of 131 g/km.
The new 7 series starts from R 1,502,701 for the standard sedan and is available from most BMW dealers in South Africa.
Volvo S90
Volvo’s focus has always been on safety when it comes to designing their cars. This coupled with intuitive technology makes the S90 a harmony between beautiful design, world-class safety and cutting-edge innovation.
As expected, technology focuses on safety and convenience. Large animal detection, park assist pilot and a 360˚ camera are just some of the features in the vehicles support system.
The entry-level S90 starts at R712,400 and includes CO2 tax. You can view and test-drive the new S90 at your local Volvo dealer.
Jaguar XF
Jaguar’s award-winning XF line offers four models, depending on your preferences. There’s the entry-level Prestige for the eco-conscious buyer, which boasts CO2 emissions as low as 114g/km. And then there’s the sporty XF S that focuses on power with its powerful 3.0-litre V6 engine.
As always, Jaguar has paid attention to choice and luxury. The exquisite craftsmanship of the interior is juxtaposed by innovative technology such as the integrated Touch infotainment system.
The Prestige base model starts from R780,400. All four XF models are available from your local Jaguar dealer.
Bentley Mulsanne
Another of the classic luxury carmakers, Bentley’s Mulsanne focuses on passenger comfort and safety above all else. The extended wheelbase model offers more legroom and optional airline-style reclining seats.
For a refined luxury vehicle, the engine is no slouch either. The 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine ensures a smooth, powerful drive and delivers 377 kW.
While the bespoke nature of the vehicle means no price is mentioned, you can expect to pay upwards of R6,000,000. The Mulsanne is available from the Bentley dealership in Johannesburg.
Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid
Porsche might be better known for sports cars, but its saloon is strong competition in the world of luxury cars. The Panamera was designed to be sleek and dynamic when compared to the sometimes cumbersome classic saloons.
While luxury is the focus with the Panamera, the expected Porsche performance is not forfeited. The engine generates 243 kW of power, taking the Panamera from 0 – 100kph in 5.7 seconds.
Pricing for the Panamera starts at R1,361,000. Porsche South Africa has dealerships in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and Umhlanga.
